When we accept Christ into our hearts, we receive the potential to begin a new life. But we will be able to fulfill that potential only if we grow in faith.
So what does it mean when someone says that he accepted Christ? It means that he is now on the way that can lead him to great changes in his life. But such a person should believe in the Word of God every day in order to move forward on the way he has chosen.
When we accept Christ, we become righteous. In other words, we become believers who have a desire to do what is right. And if every day we live by faith in the Word of God, we will see a lot of great victories. This is why it is written in Hebrews 10: 38 that a righteous person should live by faith.
However, you will not be able to overcome if you do not understand that you have authority. It is written in John 1: 12, “To all who believed Him and accepted Him, he gave the authority to become children of God”. What is authority? You can understand that a person has authority only when he begins to use it.
For example, no one hits the brakes when he drives past a policeman who is standing on the side of the road. But as soon as the policeman wants to use his authority, he will raise his hand up, and the driver will have to obey him and stop his car.
Jesus said in Luke 10: 19, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you”. You have authority to overcome diseases, addictions, and negative circumstances. But you will be able to see God’s victory in your life only when you start applying that authority every day.
If you accepted Christ and believe in His Word, you have the power to live a victorious life. It is written in James 4: 7, “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Accept Christ and trust in His Word every day. Resist temptations, sicknesses, and troubles. Overcome all the challenges with the power Christ has given you.
